While doing the WordPress Weekly Challenge last week I came across Jennifer Nichole Wells‘ Weekly Challenge and figured we might join in the fun this week as well.
This collection of images is a bit eclectic, but they all fall into the Brown theme.
As Layton was delving through his photos for this week’s Weekly Challenge we came across these photos and just had to share.
There’s something quite mesmerising about a fire – but not when it is on a path of destruction!
On the way to work a couple of days ago I came across a fully involved house fire, something I’ve only ever seen once in my life (thankfully). When I passed the scene the fire crews had not long turned up and even at that stage it was easy to see someone’s life had just been shattered. Continue reading
Ok, so we couldn’t resist another post!
Today’s going to be mash up of images from our 12 Days series that didn’t quite make it into the Day posts for whatever reason.
The main reason for this post was to thank everyone for following our series and those that liked our posts or commented either on here, via PM on Facebook or in person.
We’ve had such a great time with this series that we’ve decided to join a 365 Day Challenge Group in the New Year. We won’t post all our 365DC images here, but we’ll try to post the best ones. Christmas time is always better with community involvement. We’ve already posted a couple of examples of community Christmas spirit with the Light Up Your House contestants on Day 5 and Day 9; but today we’re looking at the Santa Parade. These photos were taken a few weeks back at the Southland Santa Parade. There were some great floats this year and a great turn out from the community.
Christmas is a time of giving and of bringing joy to others. Today we’re celebrating the origins of the jolly-red-clad-fat man. Santa and all that he embodies can be traced back to the 4th century figure Saint Nicholas who was known for his secret gift giving (you can read his story here).
There are a few versions here, Continue reading

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…following Day 5’s post the other day (Christmas Lights) I was involved in a discussion on Facebook about my dream to one day experience a white Christmas.
