New Year Changes and Introductions

Currently our business is largely represented via two Facebook pages: Findlater Photography (for client and commercial work) and Layton Findlater Photography (for Layton’s artistic work).

Whilst reevaluating our business recently we discovered that having two separate facets to our business was causing confusion and missed opportunities and although this approach does work for some businesses, it isn’t working for us.

A Retrospective – 2013 in Review

As we say goodbye to 2013 and ring in the New Year we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on the last 12 months.  This has been a time of breaking out for us.  A year that saw us shifting away from the normal and start experimenting with lighting and different types of photography; as well as undertaking a couple of themed and collaboration projects.

During 2013 we have also been concentrating on our brand and securing regular printers so we could improve our products and services and expand to offer fine art prints we could be proud of.

Getting Published

Today we had the pleasure of having our pictures published in a tabloid in our local paper (The Southland Times).  It’s so satisfying to have someone appreciate your work and even more satisfying to see it in print.

This tabloid is an annual publication inserted into the paper targeted at visitors to our region.

Photoshop and Photography

Over the years we’ve had a love-hate relationship with Photoshop.  When we were first introduced to it we were in it for the quick fixes and the easy ‘wow’s.  As time passed we started experimenting with everything Photoshop could do.  This was followed by a short but intense phase of composite creation.  Here are a few examples of some of Layton’s early composites:
