As we say goodbye to 2013 and ring in the New Year we thought it was the perfect time to reflect on the last 12 months. This has been a time of breaking out for us. A year that saw us shifting away from the normal and start experimenting with lighting and different types of photography; as well as undertaking a couple of themed and collaboration projects.
During 2013 we have also been concentrating on our brand and securing regular printers so we could improve our products and services and expand to offer fine art prints we could be proud of.
Layton’s 2013 Highlight: Developing his aurora photography skills and getting some great aurora shots such as the one above.
Aileen‘s 2013 Highlight: Finally securing a reputable printer that we were completely happy with and could completely trust with our work; which led to delivering the first signed, framed Fine Art Print to a client after months of trying to secure all our suppliers.
Combined 2013 Lowlight: Learning the hard way the importance of backing up your back ups and not trusting technology. We lost the bulk of a year’s work in a massive hard drive failure earlier this year. The part that really hurt was that right after it happened we had numerous inquiries for prints, requests to use our work and so on and had to turn them all down because we had lost the images.
So as we say goodbye to 2013 and welcome the New Year we look forward to seeing our plans come into fruition. Our new look website is progressing nicely and we’re starting to really think about our business – what we want to achieve and where we’re heading in the future. On a personal note we’re all set to start a 365 Day Photography Challenge starting tomorrow, and we’ve got many more experiments up our sleeves for the in-between times.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to thank those that have supported us throughout the year, our clients and those we have collaborated on projects with, as well as those that have just joined us for the ride and those that have followed our progress online. Thank you all.
We’ll leave you with a selection of Layton’s artistic work from the past year. Here are Layton’s ‘Favourites of 2013’. Happy New Year everyone, see you in 2014!
