These images are from the Bluff portion of Southern Katipo 2013. This combined the New Zealand Defence Force and various allies and partners from around the world. Over a two week period they have been carrying out various exercises in the fictional country Mainlandia.
As part of the exercise the HMNZS Canterbury and the French Frigate came to Bluff to evacuate a pre-selected group of people acting as ex-pat New Zealanders needing to be evacuated from Mainlandia.
Recently we’ve been trying new things and adding a bit of creativity into our images and since there were numerous photographers capturing this exercise we decided to move away from our usual documentary style and give them a slightly different look.
